On March 19, 2021, the Vitinia tunnel tube on the Hemus highway in the direction of Sofia officially opened.
Z-Light - official partner of Zumtobel Group for Bulgaria, designed and delivered on time the latest generation of tunnel lighting fixtures from the series GTLED Pro, produced by tunnel lighting leader Thorn Lighting (part of the Zumtobel Group).
The luminaires of this series are extremely light, with a unique and compact design, a special anti-dust coating and the highest corrosion classification (C5M), being designed for long-term use in extreme conditions.
A flexible lighting solution with the possibility of choosing the sizes of the lighting fixtures depending on their power and separately installed external power supplies.
The Series GTLED Pro has a wide range of optics providing uniform and comfortable lighting without glare, which is especially important for safe travel through tunnels.
The lighting system in the tunnel is designed with double adaptation – with the possibility of being used for two-way traffic, in case of emergency closure of the other tube.
The project was implemented with a total of 478 tunnel lighting fixtures for basic and adaptive lighting with a 10-year warranty and meeting all EU requirements and standards.
The lighting fixtures are installed in two lines, in the most suitable places, directed at a certain angle, so as to achieve the necessary required levels of illumination and uniformity in the respective areas of the tunnel, and at the same time there are no unpleasant glares and glare.

Z-Light also supplied the street lights for the pre-portal lighting of the tunnel.
For this purpose, the lighting fixtures that were used were CiviTEQ from Thorn Lighting – an economical yet high-performance LED lighting solution for high-traffic roads and reconstructions.
The Series CiviTEQ available in 2 housing sizes, 12 precise light distributions, flexible options for installation and assembly, as well as with the possibility of reducing the light intensity during the inactive part of the day.
In this project, we used 10 pieces of the following model for the approaches to the tunnel:

In addition to the lighting, our company, together with our partners from the Zumtobel Group, designed and supplied all components for the intelligent lighting control and management system. Z-Light thanks all partners with whom it worked together on the project and with their efforts contributed to the completion of this modern facility on time.
